Justice leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Justice’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Justice will carry forward his memory in their hearts.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Johnstone and Sibyl Johnstone; and his sister Ramona L. Greschel. He is survived by: his wife Cathy Wagner Johnstone; his son Martin Dustin Johnstone (Kelley); his grandchildren, Claire and Martin; and his brother Rick Johnstone (Linda). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions to a public service scholarship fund that is being established at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in Judge Johnstone's honor.
