He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Kay Brewer Scott; his son Larry Gordon Scott Jr.; his great grandchild Joe Harto; his brother Bill "Willie" Scott; and his sister-in-law Mona Scott.

He is survived by: his children, David Wayne Scott (Mary) of Nicholasville, KY, Christene Denise Harris (Tim Snoddy) of Flatwoods, KY and Karen Renee Scott of Raceland, KY; his grandchildren, Devin Scott, Kyra Seibert (Amanda), Brandi Syme (Ian), Jason Harris (Michelle), Eric Harris (Carol), Jeff Harris (Olivia), Ashley Freese (Craig), Tonia Harto, Shannon Gentry (Brandon) and James Scott; his brother Bruce Orville Scott; and his daughter-in-law Coleen Scott of Burkburnett, TX. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild.
