He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gilbert and Thelma Gilbert; and his siblings, Jerry Gilbert, Jeanie Riddle and Larry Gilbert.
He is survived by: his siblings, David E. Gilbert, Patricia Sharkey and Barbara Skees (Norbert). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 9th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Chism Family Funeral Home (769 Highland Ave, Vine Grove, KY 40175). A funeral service was held on Monday, March 9th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Monday, March 9th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (2501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Carl M. Brashear Radcliff Veterans Center.
