He was predeceased by : his parents, Morris Ray Sr. and Mona Lee Hornsby Ray; his brothers, Morris Ray, Jr., John "Hanger" Ray, Mason Ray and Donald Ray; his half-brothers, Russell Ray, Tom Ray, Sam Ray and James Ray; his sisters, Susie Ray and Ruby Ray Lainhart; and his half-sister Anna Mae Ingram.

He is survived by : his siblings, Hazel Ray Moberly and David Simon Ray; his niece Pam Holman; and his great-niece Shauna Jones.
