Though Don may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Don touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Earl Gilbert and Eunice Gilbert; and his daughters, Dr. Tamela Gilbert and Donna Gilbert. He was also cherished by five grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Don was honored as a Kentucky Colonel, the highest honor awarded in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, reflecting his significant contributions to his community and state.
