He is survived by: his girlfriend Cindy Schwartz; his son Matt Hansbrough (Sheila); his grandchildren, Paityn, Jaxtyn, Delaney and Brynlee Hansbrough; his great grandchild Melody Vaughn Jones (Matthew); his brothers, Tim Vaughn, Billy Vaughn and Donald Vaughn (Susan); his stepsister Rebecca Vaughn; his stepsibling's children, Bryan Schwartz (Dana), April Durbin (John) and Curtis Schwartz (Staci); Maddy Scherzinger (Clayton), Mason, Mike, Molly and Mylee Jones.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory (519 Locust St, Owensboro, KY 42301). A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Riley Children's Foundation in Russell's memory, continuing his lifelong desire to help children in need.
