She was predeceased by: her parents, Hubert Haney and Sallie Burchett Haney; her husband Wayne Joseph "Joe" Merchant; her sons, Joel Alan Merchant and Edward Vinson Merchant; and her brother Homer Haney.
She is survived by: her granddaughter Melissa Merchant of Ashland, Kentucky; her siblings, Wayne Haney (Fran) of Midlothian, Illinois and Doris Alfrey (Ken) of Kingsport, Tennessee; her friend Belva Brown; and her great grandchildren, Aidan, Mia, Riley and Luna. She is also survived by four nieces; one nephew; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; and many extended family.
