He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ira Cumpton and Eva Lawson Cumpton; his former wife Joy Pruit Cumpton; his siblings, James Richard Cumpton, Mary Madaline Sturgill, Flora Dorothy Adams, George Ollie Cumpton, Joan Scott, Helen Rose Hobbs, Violete Faye Boggs, Herbert Elmer Cumpton and Charlotte Foster; and his granddaughter Kelly Jo Mays.
He is survived by: his wife Pelma Bush Cumpton; his children, Louie Thomas Cumpton Jr. of Leesburg, Debra Kay Cumpton Mays of Ironton, Sheila Cumpton Adkins (Jon) of Raceland and Rose Mary Cumpton (Vicki) of Middletown; his siblings, Chassie Irene Lucas, Waymouth Ira Cumpton, Rupert Eugene Cumpton and Edward Ray Cumpton Sr.; and his grandchildren, Kari Diane Webb, Joshua Kane Adkins, Kristie Mays, Louie Thomas Cumpton III and Breanna Tackett. He is also survived by nineteen great grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
