He was predeceased by: his parents, Noah Bowling and Lillian Fultz Bowling; his wife Judy Diane Thompson Bowling; his son Keith Ray Bowling; his siblings, Billy Bowling, Jimmy Bowling, Jerry Bowling, Arthur Bowling, Elmer Ray "Bub" Bowling, Dan Bowling, Joyce Baloo, Dorothy Williams and Betty Adkins; and his great grandchild Nolan Reece Hogg.

He is survived by: his daughters, Krystal Bowling of Morehead and Karla Jones of West Liberty; his grandchildren, Joe Templeman, Brian Tyler Hogg, Brittany DeHart, Jacob Curtis Bowling and Emily Ryan Bowling; and his siblings, John "Bull" Bowling of Morehead, Kenny Bowling of Morehead, Mary Murphy of Michigan and Ruby Kay Keeton of Michigan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
