He was predeceased by: his parents, Derie Ison and Delphia Gilliam Ison; his wife Anna Mae Morgan Ison; and his son Gary Raymond Ison. He is survived by: his son Donnie; his daughter-in-law Georgia Ison; his daughter Brenda; his son-in-law Jimmy Thornberry; and his grandchildren, Ryan Ison (Becky) of Utah, Bryant Ison (Paige) of Sandy Hook, Travis Ison (Brittney) of Sandy Hook, Felicia Green (Anthony) of Sandy Hook, Jonathan Thornberry (Peggy) of Sandy Hook, Kim Marshall (Brandon) of Grayson and Garrett Ison (Breanna) of Salt Lick, Kentucky.. He is also survived by Fifteen great grandchildren and one on the way, and four great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Whitt & Sons Funeral Home (1260 KY-7, Sandy Hook, KY 41171). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
