Gary Asberry Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce at the age of 70 Gary Asberry of Science Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord. He passed away at the Rock Castle Hospital after an extended illness. He was born February 08, 1949 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Marvin and Ethel (Linton) Asberry. He was a graduate of New Castle high school and went on to serve his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He served proudly and was passionate about his military experience. Proudest moment when he made tank commander while serving in Germany. He was a skilled tradesmen with Dana corporation for over 25 years and then several years with Metaldyne Company before retiring. Gary enjoyed working with his carpentry tools to build things. He had a genuine passion for music and enjoyed singing, reading, watching his favorite cowboy shows on television and loved family cookouts an being outdoors. He was a loving son, best brother ever, loving husband and father to his step children, Was a fun loving generous and kind hearted man, he loved making people laugh.
He was preceded in death by : his parents, Marvin and Ethel Linton Asberry, grandparents Joe and Della (Watkins) Asberry and Burt an Jewel (Stone) Linton. Brother -in-law’s Butch Young, Jim Triplett and Charles A Harker. Uncles Harlan Asberry, Dallas Asberry, Elmer Linton, Oren Catron. Aunts Opal Linton and Inez Asberry and several cousins.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory : his wife Diana Mikel Asberry of Science Hill; his step-children, Danny Wayne Alton of Richmond, Keysha Alton of Monticello and Josh Hancock of Somerset;
his five sisters, Zena (Bob) Russell, Patty Young, Jean Triplett all of New Castle Indiana, Jewel Jasper of Missouri and Dianna (Gary) Letson of Tennessee. His Aunt Colene Catron of Spiceland Indiana, several nieces, nephews and is also survived by other loving relatives and special friends.

Graveside Services and Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky with Bro. Clarence Floyd Officiating. The American Legion Post #38 will present Military Honors.
