It is with sadness that the passing of John Phillip Applegate Sr. in Shelbyville, Kentucky is shared. John Phillip, born on March 21, 1937, passed away on September 13, 2026. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Applegate and Gladys Dillow (Edmonds); and his wife Patricia Ellen "Ellen" Applegate. He is survived by: his children, John (Terri), Steve (Tracy), Chris (Suzanne) and Nancy Applegate; his grandchildren, Tyler, Kalin, Taylor (Alex), Jacob (Alex), Emma (Riley), Phillip (Cassie), Savannah, Claire, Bennett and Sarah; and his great grandchildren, Noah, Avery, Alailah, Everly, Aiden, Sutton and Millie.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Milward Funeral Directors – Southland (391 Southland Dr, Lexington, KY 40503). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
