In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Donald leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Donald may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Waltrip and Evelyn Waltrip; his sister Kathy Staples; his granddaughter Jamie Lee Burke; and his daughter Diane Burke.
He is survived by: his wife Billie Mueller Waltrip; his children, Donald Waltrip (Melissa) and Dana Moore (Dwight); and his brother Michael Waltrip (Alice). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 1:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Don's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
