He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Ray and Flossie Maglene Baker Nelson; and his wife Carol Jean Carlson Nelson. He is survived by: his stepdaughter Jennifer Arico Thiery; his grandchildren, Victoria Thiery Wurzelbacher (Samuel), Brianna Thiery Maraman (Corey) and Douglas Austin Thiery; his great grandchildren, Charlotte Wurzelbacher, Scarlett Wurzelbacher and Natalie Maraman; and his siblings, Greg Nelson (Wendy) and Lisa Nelson Fisher (David).
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home (210 Greensburg St, Columbia, KY 42728). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
