He was predeceased by: his mother Edna Pearl Moss; his wife Iris N. Merritt; his father John Craven Moss; his brother James E. Gunterman; his sons, Danny Joe Merriett, Thomas Edward Merriett and Timothy Ray Merriett; his son-in-law William Ray Green, Jr.; and his granddaughter Renee Jean Merriett.
He is survived by: his children, Johnny Lee Merriett, Tobin Lee Merriett, Lacey Renee Green, Michelle Leigh Hawkins (Andy) and Janelle Marie McDaniels (William); and his stepchildren, Patricia Fultz (James) and Brian Smith (Shelda). He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
