Evelyn Muncy Obituary

Evelyn Howard Muncy, born July 16, 1954 in Hyden, Kentucky to the union of the late Dennis and Chloe Smith Howard. Evelyn was a life-long resident of Leslie County. She attended Eastern Kentucky University, graduating with an education degree.

She was united in marriage to her loving and devoted husband, Matt Muncy on December 04, 1982 in Hyden, Kentucky. Evelyn was a distinguished educator, employed by the Leslie County Board of Education. During her career, Evelyn taught, Kindergarten, 4th grade, Art, Physical Education, and Music. For the last six years of her career, Evelyn was the principal of the Big Creek Elementary School at Bear Branch, Kentucky until the time of her retirement.

She retired in 2004 with more than 28 years of dedicated service to the Leslie County School Systems. Evelyn had a genuine love and concern for the students she taught. She cared for them as if they were her own. Evelyn enjoyed going to the beach with her family and watching westerns. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her daughter, Aysha.

Evelyn departed from this walk of life on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Evelyn was 65 years old. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by, a brother, Billy Howard, niece, Brittany Martha Howard, and her father-in-law, Harold Muncy. Evelyn leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 36 years, Mr. Matt Muncy of Hyden, KY, one beloved daughter, Aysha Muncy of Hyden, KY.

Other survivors include, one brother, Bert Howard (Ethel) of Hyden, KY, mother-in-law, Jean Muncy of Hyden, KY, brother-in-law, Larry Muncy (Pam) of Hyden, KY, sister-in-law, Martha Collet (Dwayne) of Hyden, KY, nieces, Chloe Combs (Robert) of Hyden, KY and Chasity Howard of Hyden, KY, and a great-nephew, Dennis Ryan Combs (Haley) of Beaver, KY.

A host of additional family and friends also survive.
