He was predeceased by: his mother Sherry Smith White; his grandfathers, Dewey Poynter (Jessie) and Walter Dee Smith (Arlene); and his former wife Jenny Cromer. He is survived by: his father Tim Poynter (Mildred) of Somerset; his son Jacob Poynter of Eubank; his birth mother Sherry White (Greg) of Somerset; his siblings, Aaron Poynter (Ashley Cook) of Eubank, Jason Singleton (Christine) of Somerset, Jaime Sutton of Somerset, Vanessa Poynter (Derek) of Eubank, Amber Gibson (Charles) of Somerset and Heather Williams of Daytona Beach; and his close friend Shane Todd of Lexington. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
