He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Lucy Ferguson Pennington; his son John Cameron Pennington; and his siblings, Ellis Lee Pennington and Joyce Faye Pennington Ware.

He is survived by: his wife Terri Lynn Hall Pennington; his daughters, Rachel Dawn Neuberger (Barry) and Angela Ware Lawwill (Mark); his siblings, Ricky Dale Pennington (Cherie), Darlene Lindsay (Dean), Debbie Colson (Dean) and Jo Sharon Cain (Doyle); and his granddaughters, Heather Schweinzger, Stephanie Frazier and Shelley Webster. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Southern Heights Christian Church in Somerset, KY.
