He was predeceased by: his parents, John Daniel and Evelyn Bullock Purcell. He is survived by: his brother David; his wife Louanna Norton Purcell; his daughters, Jane Purcell of Frankfort, KY and Ann Purcell Carnes of Somerset; his grandson John Daniel Carnes of Somerset; his nephew Craig Norton of Versailles, KY; and his niece Lara Norton Liggett of South Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.
Viewing was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Main Chapel (165 KY-2227, Somerset, KY 42503). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
He attended Berea Foundation and graduated from Shopville High School.
