He was predeceased by: his parents, Garfield Smith Sr. and Bessie Meeks Smith; his wife Edith Allison Smith; and his siblings, Arlee, Grady, Ernold, Raymond, Marconi, Ernest, Jerry, Osby, Orville Smith, Betty Calhoun, Marcia Whitaker, Geraldine Smith, Jeweldine Smith, Oshie Marie Bolin and Opal Burkett.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Taylor Kya Dean, Jaidyn Mya Dean, Milla Beau Dean and Harrison Michael Meadows; his cousin Jeff Allen; and his siblings, Larry Smith (Jill) of Hamilton, Ohio and Vona "Bonnie" Johnson. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
