He was predeceased by: his parents, William Elza Carter and Althine Ruth Hines Carter; his sister Angela Renae Lee; and his pets, Jazzie and Oliver.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry Carter; his children, Gary Carter, Jr. (Cortney) of Somerset, KY and Emilee Carter of Morristown, TN; his grandchildren, Grace Carter, Aurora Weddle, Cameron Carter and Colton Carter; his nephew Adam Godby; and his extended family Tony Lowe.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Gary W. Carter, Sr. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Gary's name to either the Galilean Home in Liberty, KY or Shriner's Children's Hospital at UK Healthcenter in Lexington, KY.
