He was predeceased by: his wife Janet Hensley Barnett; his parents, Oscar Caudill Barnett and Ruby Hubbs Barnett; and his siblings, Charlie, Shirley, Reva, Jessie, Henry, Glen, Charles, Oscar, Gene and Allen.

He is survived by: his children, Judy Norris (Jim) of Marietta, GA and Jessie May (Phil) of Lewisville, NC; his sisters, Wilma, Patsy and Judy; and his grandchildren, Mitch Norris, Paige "Jasper" Norris, Steven May and Spencer May.
