He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Ard and Willie Marie Pierce Ard; his former wife Delores Phelps Ard; his wife Violet J. Stone Ard; his sons, James "Jimmy" O. Ard and Randy Wayne Ard; his daughter-in-law Melanie Whitis Ard; and his siblings, Loren Ard, Wendell Ard, Ronald Ard and Lucille Wallin.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Autumn Ard Pearson (Corey Alexander Pearson) of Somerset; his great grandchild Ryder James Pearson; his sisters, Fayrene Losey of Science Hill, KY and Ruth Ann Hines (Jack) of Mintonville, KY; and his cousins, Wayne and Diane Pierce of Somerset. He is also survived by extended family members including several nieces and nephews.
