It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ralph Oady Gilliam of Somerset, Kentucky, born in Saint Charles, Virginia, who passed away on February 19, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Haburn Gilliam and Mildred Louise Bowen Gilliam; his wife Sherlene Trett Gilliam; and his siblings, Oscar "Buzz" Gilliam, Arthur Gilliam, Garland Gilliam, Hazel Ryans and Pearl Forbes.
He is survived by: his children, Tim Gilliam (Teresa) of Mt. Carmel, TN, Odell Gilliam (Paula) of Somerset, Ralph Gilliam, Jr. (Becky) of Somerset, Phillip Gilliam of Somerset, Priscilla Flynn of Church Hill, TN, Linda Coomer of Somerset, Regina Haste (Andy) of Science Hill and Christine Franklin (Lynn) of Kingsport, TN; and his siblings, Linnie Gilliam of Gray, TN, Mack Gilliam of Kingsport, TN, Shirley Ruth Waycaster of Johnson City, TN and JoAnn Compton of Kingsport, TN. He is also survived by many grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Price-Whitaker Cemetery for upkeep, in memory of Ralph Gilliam.
