He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hayes and Nancy Bobbitt Hayes; and his siblings, Robert, William Bill Hayes and Thelma Herrin.

He is survived by: his wife Florance Darleen Meece Hayes; his children, Marty Hayes (Hazel Wethington) of Liberty, Brook Patsey (John D.) of Barrington, IL and Daphne Perkins (Brian) of Science Hill; his nieces, Nancy Ruth Herrin, Carol Fischer and Nelva Ann Herrin; his grandsons, Dustin Hayes (Jessica) and Brennan Perkins; and his great grandchild Jayden Hayes.
