He was predeceased by: his father James A. Whitis; and his siblings, Edwin Whitis, Carl Whitis, Herbert Ray Whitis, Maxine Johnson, Pearl Hall, Lena McQueen, Edna Floyd and Viola Pike.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Farmer Whitis; his children, Scott Whitis (Amy) of Somerset and Missy Boyd (Mark) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Cody Boyd (Kaylee), Emily Whitaker and Zach Whitis (Jessica); his great grandchildren, Carter Boyd, Lakynn Baber and Kipp Baber; and his siblings, Harold Whitis of Somerset, James Whitis (Ernestine) of Somerset, Margaret Poindexter of Somerset, Paulette Murphy of Somerset and Mary Lee Mink of Mt. Vernon. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and special friends.
