He was predeceased by: his parents, William Virgil Adkins and Sara Lena Wells Adkins; and his siblings, Edward, Lawrence, James, Sherman, Victor, Grace and Sylvia.

He is survived by: his wife Orilous Harvey Adkins; his children, William Glenn Adkins (Della) of Franklin, OH and Sherry Kay Campbell (Gordon) of Lebanon, IN; his stepdaughters, Katrina Mae Adkins of Indianapolis, IN and Karleen Marie Lindsey (Robert) of Camby, IN; his siblings, Charlie Adkins (Carol), Buel Adkins (Phylis) and Beulah; his grandchildren, Brandon, Sarah and Joey; and his great grandchildren, Kadin and Brenna. He is also survived by 4 step-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren.
