He was predeceased by: his parents, John Drummond Maguire and Ethelberta Flippin Maguire; his brother John James "Jim" Maguire; and his aunts, Mary Susan Mewborn and Ruth Flippin Isenbarger.

He is survived by: his wife Jane Williams Maguire of Somerset; his son Walter Flippin Maguire, Jr. (Dustie); his stepdaughters, Mary Susan Wallace (Kevin) of Somerset and Ann Louise Maguire Saich (Michael) of Somerset; his brother Phillip Royce Maguire of Pensacola; his grandchildren, Andrea Williams (Mark), Alyssa Claire Richardson, Daniel Morris Richardson, Hana Juliet Saich, Sophia Mirren Maguire, Stella Flippin Maguire and Margaret Claire Saich; his great grandchildren, Miles Grey, Max Fisher and Mercer Maguire; Claudia Ann Hayes of Inez. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
