We announce the death of Wanda Elaine Thompson of Somerset, Kentucky, who passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 74. Wanda will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Earnest Smith and Ettar Smith; her husband Windle Thompson; her children, Tammy Pyles (Thompson) and Tracy Thompson; and her siblings, Melonie Smelser (Smith), Odell Smith, Wesley Smith, Leon Smith and Elbert Smith.
She is survived by: her children, James Thompson (Samantha), Marlina Coomer (Michael), Jody McCrystal, Travis Thompson and Misty Morgan (Donald); her siblings, Joy Resseler, Shela Weesner (Jim), Judy Dennis, Dewayne Smith (Joyce) and Kevin Smith; and her grandchildren, Logan Coomer (Kathleen), Jordan Coomer (Sara), Rachel Phelps (Adam), John Thompson, Dakota Williams (Cody), Andrew Moon and Timothy Moon. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Main Chapel (5900 US Hwy 27, Science Hill, KY 42553). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home (5900 US-27, Science Hill, KY 42553).
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to hospice of lake Cumberland for their compassionate care in such a difficult time.
