He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Phelps and Edna Fulcher Phelps; his wife Mary Catherine Meece Phelps; his granddaughter Jessica Newman; and his siblings, Cecil Phelps, Caroll Phelps, Roy Lee Phelps and Geneva Phelps Huber.
He is survived by: his children, Gladys Warren (Johnny) of Montevallo, AL, Doug Phelps (Lisa) of Bronston, KY and Gary Phelps (Carolyn) of Somerset, KY; his grandchildren, Shenoah Miller, Christopher Miller (Jenna), Kristen Amell, Tabatha Flynn (Nick), Raven Hislope (Emily), Spencer Phelps (Aisling), Garrett Phelps and Jackson Phelps; his great grandchildren, Charli Burrell (Stephen), Connor Flynn, Jasmine Stout-Flynn, Jaylee Phelps, Jacob Amell, Madison Amell, Mason Amell, Levi Amell, Corbin Miller, Kylen Newman and Beatrice Cornett-Phelps; and his sisters-in-law, Judy Miller Grant, Lois Phelps and Thelma Phelps. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other family members, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home (1046 KY-80, Somerset, KY 42503). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home (1046 KY-80, Somerset, KY 42503).
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Gideon Bible Memorial Fund in memory of William Phelps.
