He was predeceased by: his parents, Sawyer Messer and Martha Warren Messer; his wife Eva Grubb; his sons, Charlie and Sawyer Messer; and his siblings, James, Reed, Sawyer Jr. Messer, Nancy Mills, Bernice Smith, Geneva Messer, Helen Grubb and Sally Messer.
He is survived by: his children, Junior Messer (Brenda) of Osgood, IN, Joyce Beaty of Seymour, IN and Mary Kegley of North Vernon, IN; and his sisters, Barbara Baker of Burnside and Lois Gambrel of Walker. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
