She was predeceased by: her parents, William Marion Mounce and Myrtle C. Godby Mounce; her husband Joseph Cox; her children, Roger Dale Gossett, Leon Gossett and Kathy Hughes; and her siblings, Jay Mounce, Orvil Mounce, Alvin Mounce, Vernon Mounce, Mary Elizabeth Mounce, Bertha Evelene Mounce, Vella Mounce, Iva Jean Phelps and Ella Mae Dykes.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cheryl Ping (Donnie) of Somerset and Carla Daniel of Somerset; her son-in-law Danny Hughes; and her grandchildren, Alan Nicklas (Heather), Robin Gregory (George), Christopher Phelps (Alexis Wolverton), Chrystial Phelps, Katherine Wallace (Dustin Dykes), Cody Daniel (Lyndsey), Greg Ping (Christine), Melissa Ping, Scott Hughes (Jennifer), Brandon Hughes, Kelly Gossett and Dana Turner. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren; extended family members, neighbors and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home (1046 KY-80, Somerset, KY 42503). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland in memory of Wilma Cox.
