He is survived by: his father Jerry Smith; his wife Joy Burton; his daughter Andrea; his son-in-law Wes Irvin; his grandsons, Grady and Hudson Irvin; his siblings-in-law, Mike and Karen Minton; his niece Jessica Minton; his sister Myra Wilson; his aunt Vanda Smith; and his close friend Sherrill Wall. He is also survived by friends and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
