He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe Griffey and Leona Hunt Griffey; his grandchild Courtney Cline; and his brothers, Clyde, Gene Wendell, Charles David and William Ernest Griffey.
He is survived by: his wife Juanita Baker Griffey; his children, Samuel Griffey, Jr. (Reanna) of Pikeville, KY, Mathew Griffey (Anissa) of Steele, KY and Kimberly Keaton (Britt) of Galax, VA; his grandchildren, Trey Keaton, Skylar Keaton, Erin Griffey Caroline Dotson, Alena Dotson, Tanner Thacker and Karli Jae Cline; and his godchild Wessa Miller.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel (112 Elkhorn St, Elkhorn City, KY 41522). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
