He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Robert Vandiver and Artie Justine Smith Vandiver; his wife Mary Lou Vandiver; his daughters, Rhonda June Brown and Mary Olene Betts; his grandson Christopher Thomas Mattingly; and his siblings, Carmon Franklin, Hilda Camplin (Von), Sheila Burns, Houston Vandiver (Buck), Lewis Vandiver, Gerriel Vandiver and Steve Vandiver.
He is survived by: his daughters, Freda Gale Tilley of Newburgh, IN and Kathy Marie McDaniel (Dennis) of Sturgis, KY; and his siblings, Janice Love of Sturgis, KY, Sharon Hugo of Easley, SC, Ralph Vandiver (Brenda) of Dawson Springs, KY and Jack Vandiver (Carolyn) of Houston, TX. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
