He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Newsome and Nannie Newsome; his wife Gerlene Newsome; his son Alvin Ray Newsome; his stepson Ishmael Glenn Hamilton; and his siblings, Ershel Dean Newsome, Delmer Newsome, Estill Newsome, Ronnie Newsome, Charles Newsome, Palmer Newsome, Martha Reynolds, Roberta Miller, Claira Morris and Evelyn Adkins.
He is survived by: his children, Bobby Joe Newsome of Grethel, KY, Renee Newsome of Teaberry, KY and Tina Dawn Hall (Larry) of Wellington, KY; his stepchildren, Mickey Hamilton of Russell Springs, KY and Janet "Toot" Hall (Brian) of Tiffin, OH; and his siblings, James Newsome (Vellie) and Cindy Hamilton. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren & 3 great-great grandchildren.
