She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Gus and Edna Mae Denzik (Smith); and her brothers, James Merkley and Raymond Edward Merkley. She is survived by: her children, Deborah Ward (Matthew) of Hestand, Kathy Burress of Elizabethtown, Susan Cunningham (Donald) of Taylorsville, Amy Morris (Greg) of Louisville and Doug Martin of Marengo, Indiana.; her brother Charles William Denzik (June) of Springfield; her grandchildren, Amanda Haman, Nicole Carrico, Kimberly Carrico, Justin Burress, Kristina Plahuta, Charles Carrico, Brandon Burress, Cameron Burress, Zackery Morris, Kaylynn Sturgeon, Keith William Martin, Hannah Morris, Cooper Martin and Charlotte Martin; and her great grandchildren, Gibson Plahuta, Miles Havens, Taylor Carrico-Smith and Shelby Carrico.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Tompkinsville Church of Christ (500 N Main St, Tompkinsville, KY 42167). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Resthaven Memorial Park (4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tompkinsville Church of Christ in memory of Barbara.
