It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvena Manion Powell of Upton, Kentucky, who passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Melvena may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Manion and Lillie Williams Manion; and her husband Alfred Powell. She is survived by: her children, Karen Caummisar (Boots) and Neal Powell (Jean); and her stepchildren, Regina Williams, Carita Brents (Ed), Kevin Powell and Kenny Powell (Rhonda). She is also survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
