He was predeceased by: his father Robert M. Elam; and his siblings, Walter, James "Elwood", Virgil, Richard, Johnny Wayne, David, Wilma Darlene Higgins, Norma Jean Rollins and Viola Morris.
He is survived by: his daughter Melissa G. Elam-Alsip (Jason); his brother Donald Elam (Lena); his brother-in-law Bill Rollins; and his grandchildren, Sydney Alsip and Weslee Alsip. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
