He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gaunce and Clara Bell Gaunce; his daughter Janet Gaunce Caldwell; and his siblings, Thelma Beeler, Martha Hines, Gene Gaunce, Billy Gaunce and Larry Gaunce.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Gaunce; his daughter Susan Gaunce Godman (Lee); his stepsons, Wayne Spalding, Del and Brent Spalding (Windy); his sisters, Nancy Coleman (Larry) of Lawrenceburg and Connie Adams of Lawrenceburg; his grandchildren, Drake Godman, Brooke Godman, Karter Godman, Eric Spalding (Cassie), Samatha Burton (Bryce) and Taylor Kear (Evan); and his great grandchild Emmett Burton.
