He was predeceased by: his parents, Reed Fortney and Leah Johnson Fortney; his wife Doris Jean Cole; and his grandchildren, Carter Alan Fortney and Janie Elizabeth Charles.
He is survived by: his children, Wendell Reed Fortney (Kristy), Nerissa Anne Gregoire (Rene) and Mechelle Renee Bryant (George); his grandchildren, Morgan Reed Fortney, Tiffany Lauren Huff (Daniel), Clinton Wayne Fortney (Carrie), Natalie Anne McAninch, Catherine Blaine McAninch, Megan Paige Winkler (Jon) and Jeanna Faye Fortney (Braxton); and his brother Dale Fortney (Charlotte). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.
