He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Rains and Edith Paul Rains; his wife Margie "Punk" Rains; his son Sam Watson Jr.; and his brother Jeff Rains.
He is survived by: his children, Shurrenda Morgan (Dave) of Knoxville, TN, Mary Lynn Watson of Norris, TN and Don Watson (Janet) of Alpharetta, GA; his grandchildren, Stephanie Paolucci (Roberto), Kimberly Watson, Dr. Samuel Watson and Steven Richards (Lynzee); his great grandchildren, Reid Watson and Cole Watson; his siblings, Judy Siler (Berry) of Williamsburg, KY and Gene Rains; his siblings-in-law, Dianne Spurlock (Ted) of Dayton, OH and Ivan Gant (Sharon) of Corbin, KY; and his pet Cuddles. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Ellison Funeral Home (512 Main St, Williamsburg, KY 40769). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
