He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. McVey and Wilma Cleta Sams McVey; his son Little Joe McVey; and his grandparents, Joe and Lilie Mae Sams.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth McVey of Williamsburg, KY; his children, Christy McVey (Bubby) of Louisville, KY, Brandie Herp (Steven) of Louisville, KY and Jamie Hamlin (Gina) of Williamsburg, KY; his grandchildren, Bub Helton, Aiden Helton, Adalynn Helton, Landon Herp, Jaxson Herp, Megan Hamlin, Little Joe III (Tayah) and Lexie McVey; and his great grandchild Marley Ray McVey. He is also survived by brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
