He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gossum and Lillie Mullins Gossum; his son William Gossum; and his sisters, Patsy Tripplet, Daphine Jackson and Delores Hicks.
He is survived by: his daughter Shannon Papierski of Wingo, Kentucky; his granddaughters, Jessica Choate (Alyssa) of Wingo and Sarah Spivey (Brittany) of McKee, Kentucky; his great grandchildren, Jacob Shadowens (Tabby) of Wingo and Layla Dodd of South Fulton, Tennessee; and his sisters, Vicky Franklin of Wingo and Gwendelen Johnson of Mayfield, Kentucky..
