He was predeceased by : his parents, Evelyn Newton and Leon "Black" Stevenson; his daughter Stephanie Thomas; his cousins, Janet Rose Hawkins, Boyd William Sr. and Cathy Williams; and his close friend Percy "Polo" Robinson.

He is survived by : his wife Betty Williams; his daughters, Iris Stagg (Robert), Annetha Broussard (Calvin) and Kameshia Davenport; his stepmother Margie Stevenson; his brothers, Joseph Stevenson, Frankie Stevenson and Kenneth Ray Newton; and his granddaughter Shaquana.
