He was predeceased by: his daughter Jennifer Rhoad; his parents, Betty Sterkx Rhoad and Donald Duane Rhoad; and his sister Mary Ann Rhoad. He is survived by: his son Jeremy Alexander Rhoad; his grandchildren, Angelle Rhoad, Eli Scallan and Skye Scallan; his sister Susan Rhoad Ellis; his cousins, Diane Roy, Craig Sterkx and Rod Rhoad; his aunt Bette Sowell; his niece Christine Ellis; and his nephew David Ellis.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in John's honor to the Jerry R. Payne scholarship fund at Northwestern State University, 535 University Parkway, Natchitoches, LA 71497.
