He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John H. Gilchrist and Emma Rose Bordelon Gilchrist; his brother Preston Eugene Gilchrist; his wife Jimmie Lynn Pourcy Gilchrist; his children, Steve Gilchrist (Gail), Randy Gilchrist (Jenifer) and Missy Gilchrist Sterritt (Tim); his grandchildren, Joey Gilchrist (April), Brittany Gilchrist (Sean), Robert Sterritt (Bethany), Scott Sterritt (Sara), Allyson Sterritt Jarreau (Jace), Ashley Sterritt Majors (Andrew), Stephani Gilchrist (Chris), Katherine Gilchrist and David Gilchrist; and his great grandchildren, Bryson Sterritt, Henderson Gilchrist, Timothy Sterritt, Reid Sterritt, Adam Majors, Rylie Jarreau, Jacob Sterritt, Ansley Majors, Holden Gilchrist, Austin Jarreau, Brooklyn Sterritt and Collins Jarreau. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
