He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Baynes (Jessie Baynes) and Jessie Necaise Baynes; his siblings, Theda Baynes Lake, Essie Baynes Bourgeois and Garland Baynes; his grandson Jeremy Gatewood; and his great grandchild Reilly Berger.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Yvonne Spring Gatewood; his children, Kelley Mitchell (Alan), Jeffrey Gatewood (Phyllis) and Barry Gatewood (Tina); his grandchildren, Jenny Mitchell Pastore and Ashley Mitchell Pittman (Alex); and his great grandchildren, Caleb Gatewood (Katie), Lola Pastore, Frankie Pastore, Quinn Pittman, Colton Tate and Aiden Berger.
