He was predeceased by: his spouse Bernell Roberts; and his siblings, Bessie, Glory, Maguerite, Joyce, Ernestine and Ernest.
He is survived by: his children, Byron Johnson (Terri Johnson) and Derrick Johnson (Cynthia Johnson) of Baton Rouge; his grandchildren, Eugenia Williams, Trajan Johnson, Alexie Johnson, Jacquez Johnson, Hose'a Johnson, Aaron, Avery Johnson, Tiaria and Leigh Nardra Dorsey; his great grandchildren, Joshua Scott Jr., Victoria Scott, Rhyann Dorsey, Avouri Richardson and Mary Johnson; and his sister Ruby Nell Weary of Bogalusa, LA.
