In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Melba leaves behind and her impact on the lives of her loved ones. Though Melba may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
She was predeceased by: her husbands, V. H. "Billy" O'Brien and Allen Durand; her parents, William Buck and Bertie Lee Mobley Johnson; her children, Vincent Ray O'Brien and Jackie C. Walters; and her siblings, Edward Johnson and Laverne Johnson.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Melissa Scroggs, Kristin Smith and Cody O'Brien. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Church of Pentecost (4929 Monroe Hwy, Ball, LA 71405). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
